It's not about me

This is a picture of the worship band at the Super Summer evangelism training camp last week. They put a huge sheet in front of the band to emphasize the fact that worship is not about us! As I sang that night, tears rolled down my face as I recalled the many times in ministry I've made things about me. I've rescently been teaching the "13 Inch" rule at youth group. That is, the distance between hell and heaven is about 13 inches from your head to your heart. There are a lot of people out there that call themselves Christians, and believe in their minds that Jesus died on the cross for their sins, but haven't decided to follow Jesus with their hearts and their lives. For these people, life is all about "me". When you talk to them, they are consumed with their own desires. When they make decisions, they ask "What do I want". The whole of their life is consumed with selfishness and greed. These people may look good on the outside, but their hearts are filled with evil. That is why Jesus will say to them "depart from me, I never knew you" (Matthew 7:21-24) Be careful of these people, their cancer-like attitudes can spread quickly. Pursue God, run after righteousness, do not flirt with the world, but fall in love with Christ everyday.
Matthew 5:6 "Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled"

Yope ... good thoughts ... I like lifting up Jesus instead of ourselves ... thought I confess it a temptation at times. I believe we all struggle with the flesh, even when wanting to be led by the Spirit. Those who say they don't struggle are really struggling with the flesh big time, more than they know. I would not want to pose to the believers that if they struggle with temptation and even giving in to it at times they are not saved. There simply are no sinless Christians, though we should have a desire in following Jesus that leads to sinning less. Keep blogging and slogging away! - Pbob
